Vienna Austria

Austria consists of nine states with the capital being Vienna. The city of Vienna is the largest and holds almost two million residents with more tourists adding to those numbers each year making it a metropolis. Vienna is full of culture and is the heart of the economic and politics surrounding Austria. It also ranks as the tenth biggest city in Europe. OPEC and the United Nations are founded in Vienna. In 2001, Vienna was assigned the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the high quality of living it produces.

The cultural side of Vienna for art, music, and theatre is a classic and generational tradition. Four of the larger theatres in Vienna are the Volkstheater Wien , Burgtheater, Akademietheater, and the Theater in der Josefstadt. There are also other theatres, smaller in size, scattered through the area which have wonderful cabaret productions to give to the visitors. During the Eight Century, St. Mark’s Square was created and has become a place were those who feel the need to speak out can.

Vienna has a grand tradition of holding over two hundred balls each year. The city is the last city to hold these balls as the other countries have given up such a tradition. There can be as many as nine orchestras playing live at each of the balls and each is held in one of the extravagant and beautiful Vienna Palaces around the city and the Austrian countryside. The Opera Ball is the most famous but is one among many other balls including the Hunter’s Ball and the Café owner’s Ball. There is no limit to the class of people who can attend. The length of the Ball Season runs for about three months which gives each person the opportunity to be seen at least ten times per season.
