| Frankfurt
Frankfurt am Main is the official name of the city more commonly known
as Frankfurt. This is the fifth largest city in Germany and a transport
and financial hub. Frankfurt is located on the River Main and is linked
to other areas by many bridges.
Summers in Frankfurt are warm and wet, while winters can be quite cold
and stormy. Frankfurt gets plenty of rainfall, too.
Frankfurt is also called Bankfurt, Mainhattan and The Big Appel. Many
trade fairs and exhibitions, such as the International Motor Show and the
International Book Fair, are held here every year. In fact, it’s been a
centre for trade fairs since 1240!
There are plenty of things to see and do in Frankfurt. From inline skating
on the banks of the River Oder to relaxing in a beer garden with a stein
of Frankfurt’s finest, visitors to the city can experience the wide range
of interesting things to do in Frankfurt. The Palmengartne or Palm Garden
has a fascinating collection of exotic plants and the Karmeliterkloster,
an ancient monastery constructed between 1460 and 1520, has superb architecture.
The Museum für Angewandte Kunst is interesting, too, and the Alte
NIkolaikirche is well worth seeing. And if you want to get out of the city,
you could go camping at Helenesee, a pretty lake near Frankfurt.
Frankfurt is well connected to the rest of the world, with the biggest
airport in Germany, one of the largest terminal stations in Europe and
an extensive network of railways and roads, including the busiest interchange
in Europe, the Frankfurter Kreuz Autobahn Interchange. Tourist love visiting
Frankfurt and millions flock here every year, to drink in the sights and
soak up the culture of this beautiful city. |
