Nice
Nice is the capital of the Riviera and one of the largest cities in
France. The city attracts an amazing 3.2 million visitors every year, and
this is not surprising, considering its attractions. The weather is truly
wonderful here, a great place to enjoy the sea, the sun and the sand. The
people are friendly, the architecture is impressive, and the fragrance
of the past and Roman, Greek, Russian and Greek influences still linger.
A good way to see Nice is to take a ride on the Train Touristique de
Nice, which runs every day from April to August. This way you’ll see the
main attractions of the city encapsulated in an enjoyable forty-minute
train ride.
Nice is of course famous for its beaches - they stretch for over four
miles continuously. These beaches are full of pebbles called galets. There
are many private beaches for the traveler who would like some seclusion;
most of them close to the old town near the western part of the bay. These
beaches are generally attached to hotels, but may be accessed for a fee.
Topless sunbathing is quite common on the beaches of Nice.
The town itself is lovely, with its attractive location, and the nightlife
is exciting and fun. However, there are plenty of museums here too. A Carte
Passe-Musée will give you entrance to the seven largest museums
in the city – it costs €15 for 3 days and €25 for 7 days and
is well worth the price.
Nice is a great option for a holiday, offering a relaxing way to spend
several days, visiting museums, partying or simply lazing on the cobbled
beaches. The mixture of French and Italian influences here makes it particularly
interesting. Tourists should. However, be wary of pickpockets, who are
unfortunately quite common in Nice.
