Amsterdam
The mesmerizing city of Amsterdam is Netherlands’ pride. The idyllic
situation of the city on the banks of two bodies of water, the IJ bay and
the Amstel River make it an enchanting city. The city derives its name
“Amste-r-dam” from its situation where the small bifurcated Amstel River
joins a sluice dam, originally built in 1240.
