| Bangkok
If you are a lover of exotic lands and particularly
so, if you want to photograph them too, Thailand is the place you must
visit. The capital of Thailand, Bangkok is adored with topical beaches
in the south and the mountains in the north. A wide range of destinations
to meet the aspirations of any tourist is available when you visit Thailand.
Most visitors to Thailand will start their tour with Bangkok.
Over the surface, the city is bustling and at
times overwhelming with its traffic jams and air pollution, but under the
surface, this is a marvelous city with plenty on offer. Numerous Budhist
temples, the Grand Palace, absorbing side streets, hustle bustle of activity
in the numerous canals and shopping no doubt, to fill your time. In Bangkok
you can see about 400 temples. Wat Phra Keo (Temple of the Emerald Budha),
Wat Pho (temple of the reclining Budha), Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), Wat
Benchamabophit (Marble Temple) and Wat Saket (Golden Mount) are among the
most alluring and must see temples. Photographic opportunities are aplenty
at each of these temples.
Then comes the canals. A visit to Bangkok cannot
be complete without exploring some, if not all of its numerous canals.
A private long tail boat can be hired or you can also hope on to one of
the many public longtail boat transports. Hiring a private boat will make
your experience more enthralling and if photography is on your agenda the
private boat will make it much easier too. The public boats are crowded
and make frequent stops. The curtains on the public long tail boats (to
prevent water from splashing) can impede your view too. Finally, a two
day trip out of Bangkok to see the floating market at Damneon Saduak and
the River Kwai (scenic landscapes, old railroads, beautiful river scenes
and sobering World War II history), will be a fitting finale. The floating
market is a tourist trap though.
